Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty with Fillers: Is It Right?

Non-surgical rhinoplasty uses hyaluronic acid filler to add volume to the nose. Dr. Mughni, a plastic surgeon in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, reviewed this guide. Filler can lift a low bridge, hide a small bump or support a drooping tip, usually for 6 to 12 months. It cannot make the nose smaller or improve breathing, and the nose is a high-risk area for filler.

Is non-surgical rhinoplasty right for you?

Non-surgical rhinoplasty, also called liquid rhinoplasty, is the injection of dermal filler to reshape the nose without surgery. It suits small changes that need added volume.

At a consultation, the key question is simple: does the change you want need volume added, or tissue removed? Filler can only add. If your goal is a smaller, narrower or straighter nose, filler will not get you there, and surgical rhinoplasty is the honest answer.

Filler is given as a short clinic procedure. Small amounts of filler are placed in a deep layer of the nose, where fewer blood vessels run.

Filler may be a reasonable choice if you:

• have a low or flat bridge and want a higher profile

• have a small bump that can be blended by filling above and below it

• want slight support for a tip that droops

• cannot have surgery for medical reasons

It is not advised over old permanent or unknown filler.

What can nose filler do, and what can’t it?

Filler adds volume in small, precise amounts. It cannot reduce size or remove bone or cartilage, and it cannot fix the inside of the nose.

Raise a low bridgeMake the nose smaller
Camouflage a small bumpRemove a large hump
Lift and support the tip slightlyNarrow wide nostrils

Most nose fillers are hyaluronic acid fillers, a gel made from a substance found naturally in skin. Hyaluronic acid is preferred in the nose mainly because an enzyme called hyaluronidase can dissolve it if something goes wrong.

Skin thickness matters too. Nasal skin is often thicker in people of Asian ancestry. Thicker skin makes filler harder to shape, so the result may be subtler and swelling more noticeable.

How long does a filler nose job last?

Hyaluronic acid filler in the nose usually lasts 6 to 12 months. To keep the result, the treatment has to be repeated.

How long it lasts depends on the product, the amount placed and how your body breaks it down.

How risky is non-surgical rhinoplasty?

Most side effects are minor, but the nose carries some of the most serious filler risks on the face.

Swelling, redness, bruising and tenderness for a few days are common. The serious risk is vascular occlusion, where filler enters or presses on an artery and blocks blood flow. In the nose, this can cause skin damage and, rarely, permanent loss of vision. In a 2019 review of 48 reported cases of vision loss after filler, the nose was the highest-risk site, involved in 56.3% of cases.

Warning signs during or after treatment:

• skin that turns pale, white or blotchy purple

• pain that keeps getting worse

• any change in your vision

These are emergencies. Damage to the eye can begin within minutes, so the injector must stop at once and treat the area with hyaluronidase. Nose filler should only be done by a doctor who knows nasal anatomy and keeps hyaluronidase ready.

Filler or surgery: how do results, recovery and cost compare?

Filler is quick and temporary. Surgery takes longer to recover from but can change shape and size permanently.

Surgical rhinoplasty with Dr. Mughni typically ranges from BDT 45,000 to BDT 120,000, depending on the technique and complexity (see the rhinoplasty cost guide). The final figure is confirmed at consultation. The quoted range covers the surgeon fee, operating theatre and anaesthesia; medicines and bed rent are charged separately.

When is surgical rhinoplasty the better choice?

Surgery is the better choice when the change you want needs tissue removed or structure rebuilt, or when function matters as much as form.

Consider surgery if you want a smaller or narrower nose, a large hump removed, a crooked nose straightened, easier breathing through the nose or a permanent result.

Recovery from surgery takes more care. Dr. Mughni advises patients in Dhaka to avoid dust, heat and long rickshaw or CNG rides in the first weeks. With thicker nasal skin, he usually advises waiting 12 to 18 months before judging the final shape.

Dr. Mughni’s perspective

Filler and surgery are two different tools, and the right one depends on your anatomy and your goal. Dr. Mughni’s starting point is your own features.

Dr. Chowdhury Rashedul Mughni notes: “I prefer preserving cultural features and natural body-structure, for rhinoplasty and also for other body reshaping surgeries. Always a pre-operative discussion with the patient is a must to task for me.”

With filler or surgery, the goal is a small, natural refinement that suits your face.

Frequently asked questions

Does non-surgical rhinoplasty hurt?

Most patients feel only mild discomfort. Many fillers contain a local anaesthetic, and numbing cream can be applied before injection. You may feel pressure and brief stinging. Tenderness usually settles within a few days. Pain that keeps increasing after treatment is not normal and needs urgent review by the treating doctor.

Is there any downtime after a liquid nose job?

Downtime is short, with mild swelling, redness or bruising that settles within a few days. Patients with thicker nasal skin may notice more swelling. Follow your doctor’s aftercare advice, and report any spreading colour change in the skin or worsening pain straight away.

Can nose filler be removed if I don’t like it?

Yes, if it is hyaluronic acid filler. An enzyme called hyaluronidase dissolves it. That gives you a way out if the result is not what you wanted. Permanent fillers, such as silicone, cannot be dissolved this way, and filler is not advised over a previous permanent or unknown filler.

Can I have filler after a previous rhinoplasty?

Sometimes, but with care. A nose that has had surgery needs extra caution, and some surgeons advise waiting around a year before considering filler. Your surgeon should assess the nose carefully first, because filler is not always suitable after previous surgery.

How much does non-surgical rhinoplasty cost in Dhaka?

Nose filler cost in Bangladesh depends on the product and how much filler your nose needs. Because results last about 6 to 12 months, the real cost is the price per session multiplied by how often you repeat it. A consultation is the place to compare the expected cost of filler with the surgical option for your nose.
