What does breast surgery cost in Bangladesh?
Breast surgery cost is the combined fee for surgeon, operating theatre and anaesthesia, with implants, medicines and bed rent billed separately. Every figure on this page is a range, not a fixed price.
This guide covers three cosmetic and reconstructive breast procedures Dr. Mughni performs: breast augmentation, breast reduction and breast lift (mastopexy). It does not cover breast cancer surgery, which is planned and priced by oncology teams. All three procedures are available at both of Dr. Mughni’s Dhanmondi chambers, and the range does not change in any major way between them.
| Procedure | 2026 range (BDT) | Included in the range | Billed separately |
|---|---|---|---|
| Breast augmentation (implants) | 120,000–190,000 | Surgeon fee, operating theatre (OT) charge, anaesthesia, follow-up visits | Implants, medications, garments, bed rent, pre-operative tests |
| Breast reduction | 140,000–190,000 | Surgeon fee, OT charge, anaesthesia | Bed rent, pre-operative tests, follow-up visits, medications, garments |
| Breast lift (lift only) | 140,000–220,000 | Surgeon fee, OT charge, anaesthesia | Bed rent, pre-operative tests, follow-up visits, medications, garments |
| Breast lift with implant | 160,000–220,000 | Surgeon fee, OT charge, anaesthesia | Implants, bed rent, pre-operative tests, follow-up visits, medications, garments |
These are 2026 ranges. They are reviewed each January.
How much does breast augmentation cost in Dhaka?
Breast augmentation with Dr. Mughni costs BDT 120,000–190,000 for the surgery itself. The implants are priced separately.
Where you fall in that range depends on how complex your case is, the technique chosen (including whether the implant sits above or below the chest muscle), whether this is a first operation or a revision and how long you stay in hospital. Follow-up visits after augmentation are included in the range. Before any figure is quoted, Dr. Mughni explains how breast augmentation is planned and performed for your body shape.
Why implants are priced separately
Implant price depends on the brand and type you and Dr. Mughni choose, so it sits outside the surgical range.
Dr. Mughni works with several established implant brands and does not favour one for every patient. Price changes with the brand, the filling (silicone or saline) and the shape (round or teardrop). A side-by-side comparison of silicone, saline, round and teardrop implants explains what each choice means for feel, look and long-term care.
The long-term cost of implants
Implants are not lifetime devices, so an honest budget includes future checks and, at some point, replacement.
The US Food and Drug Administration states that breast implants wear out over time, and the longer you have them, the more likely removal or replacement becomes. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons describes a typical replacement horizon of 10 to 15 years, sooner after pregnancy, weight change or ageing. For silicone implants, the FDA recommends a first MRI or ultrasound five years after surgery, then every two to three years. None of these future costs appear in the first quote, but they belong in any honest budget.
How much does breast reduction cost in Bangladesh?
Breast reduction with Dr. Mughni costs BDT 140,000–190,000, covering the surgeon fee, operating theatre charge and anaesthesia.
The main drivers are the amount of tissue to be removed, the technique and the length of stay. Technique is chosen to protect blood supply to the nipple: common approaches include the inferior pedicle and superior pedicle methods, with a free nipple graft used in selected cases. A reduction usually lifts the breast at the same time.
Common reasons women consider surgery include neck, back and shoulder pain, deep bra-strap grooves, skin irritation under the breast fold and limits on exercise. Bed rent, pre-operative tests, follow-up visits, medications and garments are billed outside the range. Dr. Mughni’s page on breast reduction surgery and recovery covers candidacy in detail.
How much does a breast lift cost in Bangladesh?
A breast lift costs from BDT 140,000 for a lift alone and from BDT 160,000 with an implant, with an upper bound of BDT 220,000.
A lift alone raises the breast by removing loose skin and tightening the tissue beneath. It does not add volume. A lift with an implant also restores lost volume, which makes it a more complex operation with two goals. The implant is priced separately, as with augmentation.
Combined lift and implant surgery carries a real chance of a second procedure later. In one published series of 186 single-stage lift-with-implant operations, about one in six patients needed some form of revision, and the authors advise that patients be told this before surgery (Stevens et al., Aesthetic Surgery Journal, 2006). That figure comes from published literature, not from Dr. Mughni’s own practice. More detail on what a breast lift involves is on the procedure page.
What makes one quote higher than another?
Five factors move a quote within the range: complexity, technique, first operation or revision, anaesthesia type and length of hospital stay.
• Complexity. Asymmetry, very large or very loose breasts and previous surgery all add time and planning.
• Technique. Implant position, incision site and reduction method change how the operation is planned and performed.
• First operation or revision. Revision surgery is usually more involved, which moves the quote up.
• Anaesthesia type. The anaesthesia plan depends on the operation and your health, and it affects the quote.
• Length of stay. Bed rent is charged by the admitting hospital and sits outside the range.
Price should not be the first question. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons points out that correcting a poorly done augmentation often costs more than the original operation.
What costs are billed outside the range?
Implants, medications, bed rent, pre-operative tests and garments are billed separately. A consultation fee is charged at the first visit.
• Consultation fee. BDT 1,200 at EKAGRA Health, Dhanmondi, and BDT 1,500 at Cosmetic Surgery Centre, Satmasjid Road. It is not waived when surgery is booked.
• Pre-operative tests. Blood tests, ECG and anaesthesia clearance are billed separately by the diagnostic centre or hospital, so the cost depends on where you have them.
• Medications and garments. Pain relief, antibiotics and support bras or compression garments after surgery.
• Bed rent. Charged by the admitting hospital for your stay.
• Revision. If a revision is needed within the first 6 to 12 months, it is offered at a discounted rate.
How do payment and insurance work?
Payment is made in three stages (at booking, on the day of surgery and after surgery) by cash, credit card or bank transfer in BDT.
There are no bank EMI or financing partnerships, and health insurance is not accepted for these procedures, so plan to fund surgery yourself. If you live abroad and are considering travelling to Dhaka for plastic surgery, the planning points for international patients are covered on a separate page.
Is breast implant surgery established in Bangladesh?
Yes. Silicone implant augmentation has been performed and reported on in Dhaka for more than two decades.
The Bangladesh Journal of Plastic Surgery has published a Dhaka series of 126 silicone implant operations performed between 2001 and 2008, and a 2013 Dhaka Medical College Hospital series of 30 consecutive augmentations. The first reported minimal complications and the second reported no serious complications. Both are published local evidence, not results from Dr. Mughni’s own practice.
Dr. Mughni’s perspective on cost and value
Dr. Chowdhury Rashedul Mughni notes:
“The first step is to accept that, without scar no surgery is possible. Post-surgery weight management is very important.”
For Dr. Mughni, the honest conversation about value starts there. Every breast operation leaves a scar. A result that lasts depends on aftercare and stable weight as much as on the day of surgery. Weight change is also one reason implants may need replacing sooner, so a stable weight protects both the result and the long-term cost.
That conversation happens before any figure is given. As Dr. Mughni puts it, “Always a pre-operative discussion with the patient is a must to task for me.” At consultation he examines and measures the breasts, asks what size and shape you hope for and explains which technique your anatomy supports. Only then is the figure set. You can read more about Dr. Mughni’s training and surgical background.
Frequently asked questions
These are the cost questions patients ask most often. Questions on candidacy, surgery and recovery are answered in the full breast surgery FAQ.
Are implants included in the breast augmentation price?
No. The BDT 120,000–190,000 range covers the surgeon fee, operating theatre, anaesthesia and follow-up visits. Implants are priced separately because the cost depends on the brand, filling and shape you choose with Dr. Mughni. Once those choices are made at consultation, the implant figure is added to your quote.
Is breast reduction cheaper than breast augmentation?
Not necessarily. Breast reduction ranges from BDT 140,000 to 190,000 and augmentation from BDT 120,000 to 190,000, but augmentation also carries the separate implant cost. Reduction involves removing tissue and lifting the breast in the same operation. Your own figure depends on your anatomy and the technique chosen.
Does health insurance cover breast surgery in Bangladesh?
Dr. Mughni’s chambers do not accept health insurance for breast augmentation, reduction or lift. Patients pay directly, in stages, by cash, credit card or bank transfer. If you hold a private policy, it is worth asking your insurer directly whether any part of the cost can be reimbursed.
Can I pay for breast surgery in instalments?
Payment is split into stages: a portion at booking, a portion on the day of surgery and the balance after surgery. There is no bank EMI or third-party financing arrangement. The exact amounts at each stage are explained once your quote is finalised at consultation.
Will I need to pay for implant replacement later?
Possibly. Breast implants are not lifetime devices. Many last 10 to 15 years, and some need replacing sooner after pregnancy, weight change or a complication. Silicone implants also need periodic MRI or ultrasound checks. It is wise to treat these as future costs when you plan your budget.
A range is a starting point
A published range helps you plan, but it is not a promise. Your figure depends on your body, your goals and the technique that suits you, and it is set only after Dr. Mughni has examined you. For the full picture of each procedure, from candidacy to recovery, Dr. Mughni’s guide to breast surgery in Dhaka brings them together.
