Treatment decisions depend on individual factors that can only be evaluated during a consultation with Dr. Mughni. Dr. Mughni’s view is that a natural result depends on following the natural hairline and density.

How much does a hair transplant cost in Dhaka in 2026?

A hair transplant with Dr. Mughni costs BDT 25 to 65 per graft, confirmed after an in-person assessment.

A hair transplant is a surgical procedure that moves hair follicles from a donor area, usually the back of the head, to areas of hair fall. Dr. Mughni, a plastic and hair transplant surgeon practising in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, prices this work per graft. The table below sets out the 2026 figures his practice has confirmed for publication.

Hair transplant, per graft25 to 65
First consultation, EKAGRA Health, Dhanmondi1,200
First consultation, Cosmetic Surgery Centre, Satmasjid Road1,500

These are ranges, not fixed prices. Two people with the same graft count can still receive different quotes, because the technique and the plan for the hairline differ from one scalp to another.

Why is a hair transplant priced per graft?

Per-graft pricing ties the fee to the amount of surgical work, since each graft is removed, prepared and placed by hand.

A graft is not a single hair. It is a follicular unit, a natural cluster of one to four hairs. The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) notes that most hair restoration surgeons charge per graft, while some charge a set fee for a projected range of grafts. ISHRS does not publish prices, because cost depends on the surgeon and the type of practice.

For the patient, per-graft pricing is transparent. You can see how the fee relates to the size of the area being treated, and you can compare any hair transplant price in Bangladesh on the same basis.

What decides your total cost?

The technique sets where your per-graft rate sits in the range, and the number of grafts you need sets the total.

The technique chosen

The technique chosen is the main factor that places your per-graft rate within the BDT 25 to 65 range.

Dr. Mughni performs FUE, FUT and DHI. In FUE (follicular unit excision), individual units are taken from the donor area with a small punch. In FUT (follicular unit transplantation), a thin strip of scalp is removed and divided into grafts. According to ISHRS, FUT is usually less expensive than FUE because it needs less surgeon labour, while FUE avoids a linear scar but is not scarless.

The comparison of FUE and FUT techniques explains how Dr. Mughni decides between them.

The number of grafts you need

More advanced hair fall needs more grafts, so the total rises with the size of the area.

Graft numbers depend on the pattern and stage of hair fall (often described using the Norwood scale in men), the density of the donor area, and the hairline you and Dr. Mughni agree on. A small frontal hairline needs far fewer grafts than a crown and front together. The guide on estimating how many grafts you need covers this in detail. Your own graft count is decided at assessment, not from a chart.

One session or more

Some patients need more than one session over time, which is worth knowing when you plan your budget.

Mayo Clinic notes that many hair transplant cases need more than one procedure over time for a full result. Hair fall can also continue in untreated areas after surgery, because a transplant does not change the genetics behind it. A sound plan allows for this from the start.

What is included in the quoted price?

The quoted range covers the surgeon fee, the operating theatre (OT) charge and anaesthesia.

Included in the per-graft rangeBilled separately
Surgeon feePre-operative investigations
OT chargeMedicines
Anaesthesia

Pre-operative investigation costs depend on the diagnostic centre where the tests are done, so no single figure applies. The procedure is carried out at the chamber or the admitting hospital. The price may vary slightly between them, but there is no major change.

How do payment and the consultation fee work?

You pay a consultation fee at your first visit, and the procedure is paid in stages rather than all at once.

The first consultation costs BDT 1,200 at EKAGRA Health, Dhanmondi, and BDT 1,500 at Cosmetic Surgery Centre, Satmasjid Road. The fee is not waived if you go ahead with surgery. The procedure fee is paid in stages: at booking, on the day of surgery and after surgery.

Payment is accepted in cash (BDT), by credit card or by bank transfer (BDT). There is no EMI or bank financing partnership at present. Health insurance is not accepted for hair transplant, and Mayo Clinic notes that a transplant for age-related hair fall is generally treated as cosmetic rather than covered treatment.

What happens if more density is needed later?

If you need a revision or extra density, Dr. Mughni does it after one year, at a discounted rate.

The one-year wait matters. Transplanted hair usually sheds after about a month, regrowth starts at around three to five months, and Mayo Clinic places the fullest result at around 8 to 12 months. ISHRS notes that the full result often takes a year or more. The shedding at around one month can feel like losing what you paid for. It is not: the roots stay in place, and this is the hair fall Dr. Mughni describes as absolutely normal after a transplant. Judging density earlier means judging a result that has not finished growing. The day-by-day recovery guide explains what to expect in each stage.

Why does the provider matter as much as the price?

The donor area can only be harvested so far, and damage to it from poorly performed surgery cannot be undone.

The ISHRS 2025 Practice Census found that 59% of member surgeons reported unlicensed “black market” hair transplant clinics in their city, up from 51% in 2021. Repair cases from these clinics averaged 10% of members’ cases, up from 6%. ISHRS warns that damage to the donor area from such procedures is irreversible.

Before comparing prices, it is fair to ask who will perform each step of your surgery, what qualification and registration they hold, and who will see you at follow-up. Dr. Mughni’s registration and training are listed on Dr. Mughni’s profile.

What do you gain by having it done in Dhaka?

Having the procedure in Dhaka lets you return for follow-up whenever you need to, at a low cost.

Dr. Mughni gives three reasons for having it done here. You are treated in your own place. You can come back for follow-up any time it is needed. The cost is low. A hair transplant result takes a year to mature, and being able to walk into the same chamber during that year has real value. For patients travelling from outside Bangladesh, the page on plastic surgery in Bangladesh for overseas patients covers planning a visit.

Dr. Mughni’s perspective on cost and result

The price is for a result planned to look natural a year from now, not only for a graft count on the day.

Dr. Chowdhury Rashedul Mughni explains his view:

“Following natural hairline and density keeps the result natural. Patients have to accept the fact that it will take time to see visible result. There will be hair fall which is absolutely normal after hair transplantation.”

A hairline that suits your face and age, and density placed where it looks natural, matter more to the final result than a large graft number. That planning happens at consultation, which is why the quote follows the assessment and not the other way round. In clinic, Dr. Mughni examines the donor area and the pattern of hair fall first, plans the hairline with the patient second, and gives a figure last.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a hair transplant cost in Dhaka?

With Dr. Mughni, a hair transplant costs BDT 25 to 65 per graft in 2026. The total depends on the number of grafts you need and the technique chosen. Pre-operative tests and medicines are billed separately. Your final figure is confirmed at your first assessment, after Dr. Mughni has examined your scalp and donor area.

Can I know the exact price before a consultation?

No. The exact price depends on your pattern of hair fall, your donor area and the technique that suits you, and these can only be judged in person. This page gives the per-graft range so you know what to expect. The final cost is set at your first assessment with Dr. Mughni.

Is FUE more expensive than FUT?

In general, yes. ISHRS notes that FUT is usually less expensive because it needs less surgeon labour, while FUE avoids a linear scar. At Dr. Mughni’s practice, the technique chosen is the main factor that places your quote within the BDT 25 to 65 per-graft range.

Does insurance cover a hair transplant in Bangladesh?

Dr. Mughni’s practice does not accept health insurance for hair transplant. A transplant for age-related hair fall is generally treated as cosmetic rather than covered treatment. Payment is accepted in cash, by credit card or by bank transfer, in stages at booking, on the day of surgery and after surgery.

Are beard and eyebrow transplants priced the same way?

Dr. Mughni performs beard and eyebrow transplants, and these are quoted at consultation after the area has been assessed. The number of grafts and the placement needed are quite different from scalp work. The guides on beard transplant and eyebrow restoration explain each procedure.

The cost of a hair transplant is easier to judge when you know what it buys: a natural hairline, density placed with care, and a surgeon you can return to while the result grows over the year. For a full picture of the procedure itself, see the complete guide to hair transplant in Bangladesh, and if you decide to look into it further, a consultation with Dr. Mughni will give you a figure based on your own scalp.
